I am not an engineer. I have never terminated a DC string or commissioned a battery storage system. But I have spent years working in and around the UK renewables sector and I can tell you that the non-technical side of this industry is where a huge amount of the friction lives.

Contracts that do not reflect how sites actually operate. Insurance products that do not account for battery degradation. Recruitment processes that screen out the best engineers because they do not tick a corporate box. Funding decisions made on spreadsheets that bear no resemblance to what is actually happening on a real asset. These are the problems that Associate Members of AmpTrust deal with every day.

AmpTrust Associate Membership is open to professionals working in operations, asset management, health and safety, commercial, and delivery roles across the solar and BESS sector. You do not need an electrical qualification. You need to be credible, active in the industry, and committed to raising standards.

What makes this different from any other network?

First, direct access to verified technical professionals. Every Technical Member of AmpTrust has been through a qualification check. When you need an honest answer about how a site actually works, you are talking to someone who has been verified, not someone who has just updated their LinkedIn headline.

Second, a community that calls out poor practice without it turning into a sales pitch. AmpTrust is independent. It is not owned by a developer, an EPC, or an asset manager. The conversations are honest because no one is trying to protect a commercial position.

AmpTrust was founded by 17 senior renewables professionals in April 2026. The inaugural AGM was held at RES Group headquarters in Kings Langley. Matt Newbury chairs the organisation, with Robert Harley and Clive Cosby as Vice Chairs.
